MJR focus for the week

AGENTS OF MERCY

Guess what?

Pope Francis wants you to be a special agent for God – an agent of Mercy! To be an agent of mercy means that you have to be kind and forgiving with everyone – even those people who may not be kind to you. Sometimes that’s hard, but God helps us.

Principal Message

Dear Parents and guardians

I feel it is appropriate to dedicate my Principal’s Message today to the people of Ukraine with the Australian Catholic Bishop’s Prayer for Ukraine.

Thank you

Have a peaceful long weekend.

Early Learning Centre Care News

The ELC is looking forward to an exciting long weekend and they all deserve it after a busy week! We have been exploring our feelings and self-help skills in the past few weeks. It has been a pleasure to see all of their wonderful personalities begin to emerge. We have celebrated Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday this week, and of course enjoyed some pancakes whilst we did. They were delicious and we enjoyed making them too.

In the recent days, there has been sightings of snakes in our community. As a result, we are ensuring that we educate our children about the emergency procedures so that, in the unlikely event that, we have a snake bite incident they are prepared and reassured by the steps in which we take. This is also in line with our required procedures under the National Quality Standard 2- Children’s Health and Safety.

Over the next few weeks, we would like to remind parents and caregivers to send Miss Chloe a picture of their family for our SOTS Family Tree. You can email your pictures to chloe.varndell@cewa.edu.au or bring them in for a member of staff. We would love for all our children to have their picture on our tree!

Out of School Hours Care News

It is the end of week 5 and OSHC is as busy as ever! We have had lots of new children join us this term and it has been lovely to see them all settling in well with the older children. We have also been lucky enough to welcome lots of new staff this year; we would love to welcome Hayley, Toni and Donna to the OSHC Educator Team.

Out of our OSHC garden we got one rock melon! The OSHC children have been watching it grow and were so happy to finally pick it! I’m sure we will eat and enjoy this soon. We hope to continue our food growing journey this year. The OSHC children have also been enjoying painting using different materials at the moment. We have been focusing on this interest which has been so lovely to see.

We would like to remind families that all bookings, where possible, should be being made via the Xplor app. If you are having any issues with the Xplor app, please let a member of the team know and they will be happy to assist you.

Defence Families

Kids With Cancer Fundraiser

Alla in Year 5 is raising money to help relieve the financial burden from families that have a child being treated for a cancer diagnosis.

I am cutting my hair to fundraise to help sick kids throughout Australia. Not only will my lovely locks be used to make a wig, your donations to the cause that means so much to me, will allow Kids with Cancer Foundation to continue with their financial support of families that have a child suffering cancer.

Please donate to my fundraiser, and share with your family and friends, together we can all make a difference. View the website here.

Gateway

Hello! Fr. Pier here.

I pray you are well.

Every year we have parents of our Catholic schools students who choose to revive or explore their Catholic journey.

In the past we offered the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), which helps to understand the contents of our faith.

Something was missing: a space where people could deepen their personal relationship with Jesus and our community.

This space is essential: with a living relationship with Jesus, the Catholic journey is a joy. Without it, it is a chore.

People will gauge with their leaders when they are ready to move towards RCIA, which is more like headspace.

This year we started from this space of experience, which we called Gateway.

We have just started.

If you wish to deepen your journey or start it altogether, you are welcome – come with your personal story.

  • What: Gateway. We share a meal, some insight, our experiences, and prayer.
  • When: on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm
  • Where: the presbytery, on the left of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
  • Contact: Pierluigi.Vajra@cewa.edu.au. For catering purposes, it would be great if you let us know.

I hope to see you there!
