MJR focus for the week

GOD MOMENTS

Jesus uses us as his special agents to get his message across to people. Jesus is constantly talking to us through people in our lives each day, but we are missing his messages as we aren’t switched on.

Look around you, there are constant acts of goodness that go unnoticed in your:

A. home

B. school room, recess and lunch

C. your activities at the weekend

Principal Message

Dear Parents and guardians

Week 7 has concluded with major milestones: our interschool girl’s cricket team coming home champions on Wednesday and our successful swimming carnival held today. Both events highlighted the enthusiasm, perseverance and commitment of our wonderful Star of the Sea students. It was also lovely to have our parent community supporting us with both events this week. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Garrote for his navigation and commitment in making these carnivals work. SOTS is truly blessed with wonderful staff who go above and beyond in keeping the Spirit of Jesus alive during our current climate.

Have a relaxing and blessed weekend

Early Learning Centre Care News

The ELC is truly like a rainbow with all diverse group in needs, languages, faith even cultural. As part of being inclusive at the ELC this week, we are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Our educator Abbie Wray and some of our children of Irish decent are leading us in everything St. Patrick!

As we continue with this theme of inclusivity, some team members attended a professional development on Autism. This was a light bulb moment! We were able to critically look at our care services and identify ways that we can improve our services to ensure that we are inclusive and give all children a sense of belonging.

Diversity is being asked to the party; Inclusion is being asked to dance by Vern Myers

Below are websites that we would like to share with our families for exploration…

Out of School Hours Care News

OSHC are fast approaching our next Vacation Care which will look a little bit different to normal. We will be hosting all of our events on site due to the Government Guidelines at this point in time. This will still be a fun filled and action-packed Vacation Care and we cannot wait to have so much Easter fun! If you are yet to make your bookings, please do so via the Xplor app. Any issues with the app or bookings and the OSHC team are always happy to assist.

We recently hosted two Pupil Free Days at OSHC and lots of fun was had by all! The Messy Play Day was an explosion of gloop and mess which everyone enjoyed! It was great to see all of the OSHC children getting stuck in! If you or your children have any ideas for the upcoming Pupil Free Days this year, the OSHC would love to hear them. Please email your ideas to oshc@sots.wa.edu.au and the team will look through them together!

OSHC would like to take a moment to remind all families that they are getting busier and busier and therefore it is getting more difficult to accept walk-in bookings. All bookings can be made via the Xplor app and staff are checking this regularly to ensure they have enough staff for the ratios. When families forget to book this can make this tricky and the OSHC may have to start turning away families and children who do not have a booking. Please book with as much notice as possible, or call the team on 9553 9540 if you need to make a last minute booking.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Gateway

Hello! Fr. Pier here.

I pray you are well.

Every year we have parents of our Catholic schools students who choose to revive or explore their Catholic journey.

In the past we offered the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), which helps to understand the contents of our faith.

Something was missing: a space where people could deepen their personal relationship with Jesus and our community.

This space is essential: with a living relationship with Jesus, the Catholic journey is a joy. Without it, it is a chore.

People will gauge with their leaders when they are ready to move towards RCIA, which is more like headspace.

This year we started from this space of experience, which we called Gateway.

We have just started.

If you wish to deepen your journey or start it all together, you are welcome – come with your personal story.

  • What: Gateway. We share a meal, some insight, our experiences, and prayer.
  • When: on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm
  • Where: the presbytery, on the left of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
  • Contact: Pierluigi.Vajra@cewa.edu.au. For catering purposes, it would be great if you let us know.

I hope to see you there!
