MJR focus for the week

LEARNING FROM YOUR MISTAKES

You can’t learn anything from a mistake until you admit that you’ve made it. So, take a deep breath and admit to yours, and then take ownership of it. Inform those who need to know, apologize, and tell them that you’re working on a solution.

Principal's Message

As the Term comes to an end, we reflect on the outstanding achievements of students and staff in what has been a very disruptive and unprecedented term. As a school community we can look back and see our wonderful students, staff and parents work as a TEAM (together everyone achieves more).

Congratulations to Mrs Cosgrove who has accepted the position of Assistant Principal at St. Bernadette’s. As sad as it is losing such a wonderful teacher, we are all so happy for this wonderful journey Mrs Cosgrove will be starting. Mrs Cosgrove will officially start at St. Bernadette’s in Week Three of next term.

Have a blessed and relaxing holiday

God bless

Out of School Hours Care News

Hi Families,

We hope you are all looking forward to the July School Holiday Period after a wonderful term here at Star of the Sea OSHC.

While your classroom teachers are off for a well-deserved break, over at OSHC the excitement of Vacation Care is building with our children and educators. With longer days we can plan and implement so much more to keep our OSHC family entertained. We will be kicking Week One off with an incursion from Dodgy Bros, the children will have the opportunity to improve their throwing and catching skills in an extremely fun and controlled environment! Throughout the week we will have a Games Galore day, Winter Wonderland, a visit from SciTech to teach us all about mixing and making and a trip to the Cinemas to end our week with a well-deserved treat of popcorn while enjoying one of the latest movies!

Kicking week two off we start with the treat of another movie at the Cinema before being immersed into a world of robotics and coding with EDGYX visiting us. Cube Sports will be joining the fun by teaching us all about basketball and Zumba, so be ready to slam dunk and move those hips. We will finish the week off using all our newly found knowledge to create some special projects and then celebrate a wonderful Christmas in July with winter activities and a big OSHC family Christmas lunch!

If your child/ren would love to join us for our jam-packed Vacation Care program, please book them in as soon as possible as spots are filling fast and are limited. If you would like to enroll your child to join us here at OSHC, please reach out and we can assist.

We hope you enjoy your holidays whether they are spent here with us or somewhere else just as wonderful and exciting.

From the team at SOTS OSHC.

Early Learning Centre Care News

With the school holidays quickly approaching, we would like to remind our families in the extension program that children requiring care during the Vacation Care period will need to be book into the OSHC via the XPLOR app.

As part of our continuous critical reflection, the ELC is reaching out to all our families to participate in suggestions for our new menu, which is currently being drafted. Inside our classroom, we have the Quality Improvement Board where families are welcome to give suggestions for snacks and lunches.

Our socio-dramatic focus this week has been based on community services and hospitals. The ELC Hospital has been very popular and in continuing to collaborate with our families, we are reaching out to our families that might have hospital equipment such as stethoscopes, child-safe thermometers, oximeters, and any other equipment that we could incorporate in making our hospital as realistic as possible while still safe.

Gateway

Hello! Fr. Pier here.

I pray you are well.

Every year we have parents of our Catholic schools students who choose to revive or explore their Catholic journey.

In the past we offered the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), which helps to understand the contents of our faith.

Something was missing: a space where people could deepen their personal relationship with Jesus and our community.

This space is essential: with a living relationship with Jesus, the Catholic journey is a joy. Without it, it is a chore.

People will gauge with their leaders when they are ready to move towards RCIA, which is more like headspace.

This year we started from this space of experience, which we called Gateway.

We have just started.

If you wish to deepen your journey or start it altogether, you are welcome – come with your personal story.

  • What: Gateway. We share a meal, some insight, our experiences, and prayer.
  • When: on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm
  • Where: the presbytery, on the left of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
  • Contact: Pierluigi.Vajra@cewa.edu.au. For catering purposes, it would be great if you let us know.

I hope to see you there!
