MJR focus for the week

GREET, TREAT AND SPEAK

How do you Greet, Treat and Speak? Do you help others fit in? Giving someone a smile or high five, is where friendship could begin.

Principal's Message

Dear parents and caregivers,

As the term comes to a close next week, I would like to thank everyone for their support, cooperation and commitment in what has been an extremely busy term. It would be a long list to name all the wonderful events and successes the SOTS community has achieved this term, thank you.

Congratulations to all our Year 6 students who will be making their Confirmation this weekend. Confirmation completes Baptism, by which in the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism Oil, which first happened at Baptism, we are confirmed with the fullness of the Holy Spirit. We are truly blessed to have such dedicated staff in preparing our students to receive this beautiful sacrament.

Finally, a message from Father Pier;

I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation yesterday, at the time of the funeral of Kristina Vagg.

It was an emotional time for our community and the time of the funeral was not ideal, because it came at pick up time.

I know everyone accepted to go out of their way to support the funeral. I am very grateful to everyone, and I know I can say this on behalf of Kristina’s family and our parish community.

Thank you, and may God bless you all.

Thank you, have a blessed weekend

Out of School Hours Care News

It is safe to say that the upcoming OSHC Vacation Care Planner is jam packed with fun and exciting things to do and is just around the corner. Be sure to sign up for your chosen days using the Xplor app to avoid disappointment, as some days are limited. For an up-to-date Vacation Planner, please see the Star of the Sea website: https://starofthesea.wa.edu.au/our-oshc/   Don’t forget, Monday the 26th is a Public Holiday so the OSHC will be closed for this day.

We understand that the Xplor app can be complex at times, and we are trying to help families become familiar with all of the different sections of the app. We have found a link which allows you to browse through setting up the app, sorting banking issues and so much more. https://support.ourxplor.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000777683-New-Parent-Guardian-Set-Up-  We hope that this link is useful and allows you to explore the app in more detail.

OSHC will be restarting the clubs in OSHC next term, if you have any ideas for the clubs which you would like to see run at OSHC please speak to member of the team or send us an email on oshc@sots.wa.edu.au

Thank you for your ongoing support

Early Learning Centre Care News

As we come to the end of the term, ELC would like to inform our families that all children who are booked into the 4-year-old extension program can still access care during the holiday period through the revamped OSHC room. The OSHC Vacation Planner has now been uploaded to our school website. All other students who currently attend the ELC will continue to do so over the school holidays as usual.

Most of the current children in the ELC are now turning 4. Therefore, we would like to remind all our families that to avoid any inconveniences with payments from Centrelink for Child Care Subsidy, we recommend that you keep your immunisations and tax returns up to date as this will influence payments from the government. Once your child’s immunisation record has been altered, please be sure to send us a copy at elc@sots.wa.edu.au

Our 3-year-old ELC enrolments for 2023 are ongoing. The enrolment forms can be accessed from the Star of the Sea website if you would like to apply, spaces are limited so be sure to send them in soon. A link has been attached below for your convenience. If you should need a hard copy, please feel free to drop and pick one up from the ELC room.

Gateway

Hello! Fr. Pier here.

I pray you are well.

Every year we have parents of our Catholic schools students who choose to revive or explore their Catholic journey.

In the past we offered the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), which helps to understand the contents of our faith.

Something was missing: a space where people could deepen their personal relationship with Jesus and our community.

This space is essential: with a living relationship with Jesus, the Catholic journey is a joy. Without it, it is a chore.

People will gauge with their leaders when they are ready to move towards RCIA, which is more like headspace.

This year we started from this space of experience, which we called Gateway.

We have just started.

If you wish to deepen your journey or start it altogether, you are welcome – come with your personal story.

  • What: Gateway. We share a meal, some insight, our experiences, and prayer.
  • When: on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm
  • Where: the presbytery, on the left of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
  • Contact: Pierluigi.Vajra@cewa.edu.au. For catering purposes, it would be great if you let us know.

I hope to see you there!
