MJR focus for the week

Thankfulness

Think of someone that you are thankful for in life. Let that person know what you are thankful for and how important they are to you.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians

We have had an overwhelming response from families on how they can best support the Paredes Sanchez family in their time of sorrow. Firstly, we ask that during this time you keep the Paredes Sanchez family and our school community in your prayers. Families who wish to pass on messages, cards, donations (monetary etc.) to the family, can do so by handing them in to the front office. We will ensure that these are passed onto the family

We pray for the repose of the soul of Daniel Paredes Sanchez. May the Lord grant comfort for those who grieve him.

God bless

Mauricio Da Silva

Out of School Hours Care News

We are officially in Term 4 which is our favourite term at OSHC. We have lots of exciting things to look forward to as well as a VERY exciting summer Vacation Care program which will soon be released!

In OSHC this term we are lucky enough to have a coach coming to join us every Tuesday from Special Olympics Australia. This coach is coming in to teach us all some sporting skills which can be used in our OSHC and at home. We cannot wait to see all the amazing skills we all learn over the coming weeks. Our OSHC will also be taking part in the Food Ladder – ‘School Recipe Challenge’. This is a challenge which encourages children to grow their own produce and create a recipe using the produce to submit. We are excited to get the ideas flowing!

As it is almost the end of the school year, this means that new enrolments will be flooding in for our OSHC program for 2023. If you have a child in Star of the Sea ELC and you need January Vacation Care, please remember to complete an OSHC enrolment form at your earliest convenience so your family account can be set up. You can enrol online using the link below:

Early Learning Centre Care News

After a busy vacation care, we are well and truly back into our second week of the school term. This week, we have been focusing on minibeasts and Diwali: one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism. It has been great to see all of the children enjoying these wonderful new projects!

We have some very exciting news here in the ELC; we have been awarded a KindiCare award for 2022; we received an OUTSTANDING rating. The KindiCare Excellence Awards were established in 2021, to recognise and celebrate the outstanding early childhood education and care services delivered around Australia that support the early learning, growth and development of our children. We are very proud of our wonderful service and wanted to share the news with all of you.

We would like to send a quick reminder to all parents of our ELC children to please send in your end dates for your bookings for 2022 as soon as possible. This year’s Christmas closure dates will be from the 24th of December and reopening on the 9th of January. We are also closed on Friday the 16th of December, a chosen Centre closure date and therefore our families will not be charged.

For any prospective families, our applications for the Early Learning Centre 2023 are currently open; so please apply online via the Star of the Sea website.

Gateway

Hello! Fr. Pier here.

I pray you are well.

Every year we have parents of our Catholic schools students who choose to revive or explore their Catholic journey.

In the past we offered the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), which helps to understand the contents of our faith.

Something was missing: a space where people could deepen their personal relationship with Jesus and our community.

This space is essential: with a living relationship with Jesus, the Catholic journey is a joy. Without it, it is a chore.

People will gauge with their leaders when they are ready to move towards RCIA, which is more like headspace.

This year we started from this space of experience, which we called Gateway.

We have just started.

If you wish to deepen your journey or start it altogether, you are welcome – come with your personal story.

  • What: Gateway. We share a meal, some insight, our experiences, and prayer.
  • When: on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm
  • Where: the presbytery, on the left of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
  • Contact: Pierluigi.Vajra@cewa.edu.au. For catering purposes, it would be great if you let us know.

I hope to see you there!
