MJR focus for the week

RESILIENCE

Resilience is a big word. It means the ability to bounce back from the various incidents that happen to us in life. Mostly life bubbles along, but every so often we can get some body blows that upset us. Already you could have had some things happen to you, like death of a grandparent or pet or being left out of a team that you were keen to be part of, finding some subjects hard or having a falling out with friends.

We all have these moments and an important life skill is to be able to bounce back, which is very often hard to do. A good example of people being resilient are Paralympian’s. Another example is to bounce a pumped up basketball and a flat one.

Principal's Message

Dear parents and caregivers

Throughout this year, the whole school community have worked together as one to ensure Star of the Sea continues to live our vision of a Christ-centred and child focused community actively living the Gospel through the values of: Respect, Service and Excellence . Students at Star of the Sea should rightly receive praise for their outstanding attitude and behaviour throughout this year. All Staff who enable our school to operate on a daily basis also deserve huge credit. We should be exceptionally proud of all the staff at Star of the Sera , whose professionalism and dedication to our school community has been extraordinary this year. Finally and definitely not the least, our parent community. The support you give SOTS and the dedication and commitment in advocating for your child should be commended, thank you.

I wish you all the joys and blessings that Christmas brings. We pray and remember those who are less fortunate and will not have family or friends to share the Christmas spirit with.

I hope your travels over the holidays will be safe. Thank you again for your support of SOTS this year.

Early Learning Centre Care News

This week in the Early Learning Centre, our focus has been all about Christmas! All the children have been very excited as we prepare the room with Christmas decorations and share stories about Father Christmas, festive traditions and the Story of Christmas and the baby, Jesus.

We would like to remind you all that if any ELC Families are looking at enrolling your child/children into our OSHC, feel free to pick up an enrolment form from the ELC or you can enrol online via the Star of the Sea Website. This is also a reminder for all of our current ELC Families to please put in your end of year dates; these will automatically end on the 23rd of December if we are not advised otherwise.

Don’t forget to get your raffle tickets handed in before Wednesday the 7th of December if you would like the chance to win some of the amazing prizes on offer!

Gateway

Hello! Fr. Pier here.

I pray you are well.

Every year we have parents of our Catholic schools students who choose to revive or explore their Catholic journey.

In the past we offered the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), which helps to understand the contents of our faith.

Something was missing: a space where people could deepen their personal relationship with Jesus and our community.

This space is essential: with a living relationship with Jesus, the Catholic journey is a joy. Without it, it is a chore.

People will gauge with their leaders when they are ready to move towards RCIA, which is more like headspace.

This year we started from this space of experience, which we called Gateway.

We have just started.

If you wish to deepen your journey or start it altogether, you are welcome – come with your personal story.

  • What: Gateway. We share a meal, some insight, our experiences, and prayer.
  • When: on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm
  • Where: the presbytery, on the left of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
  • Contact: Pierluigi.Vajra@cewa.edu.au. For catering purposes, it would be great if you let us know.

I hope to see you there!
